We have a log burner in our lounge and I was keen to see how this performed in relation to our existing air purifier. There's a lot to like about this, and I'm particularly keen on the air quality monitor which is lacking on our other model. This provides a real time readout and shows how the air quality is being improved by the purifier (see video). When running at full speed it's a bit noisy but on auto this doesn't happen for long before it reduces to a more acceptable level. Running on sleep mode it's pretty much inaudible. There are lots of settings, including a timer, nightlight, various fan speeds and the option to turn off the display. When selecting the latter the display appears the same colour as the rest of the unit rather than a standard dark LED style. The downside of this is that it can be difficult to read in bright sunlight. The filter is quite small and is made from multiple layers, with a fabric type material on the outside to filter out the smallest of particles. The entire unit is way smaller than our current purifier, so takes up a lot less space. It also looks a lot neater so there's no need to tuck it behind furniture to keep it out of sight.Performance seems very impressive, even in a reasonably large lounge it can clean the air quite quickly, for example after letting smoke and ash out of the log burner when adding wood. The current price is a tad under 110 with a current Amazon voucher, which for such a device with air quality monitor built in is quite reasonable. However, I can't find the price of filters, at the time of reviewing they don't appear to be available as an option, so until replacement cost is known it's not possible to determine the longer term running costs of this device.
